GATHER.TOWN
SizeCon [micro] is hosted on gather.town. what can you do there?
While Gather has a number of pages that that describe this (see here), let’s break down some of the features/options that will lead you to success! Before you can visit our space, you’ll need to register with Gather.Town. When registering, we recommend doing so with your email of choice in all lower case characters. While typically, this is not important on the majority of websites, the guest-list function for events can only accept lower case characters, and this can lead to disruptions at login time for the event. We recommend attending on a computer, though it IS possible to attend on a mobile device.
Design your avatar
Your position in our Space will be represented by a virtual avatar that you can customize based on Gather’s offerings. Select costume pieces and coloration to put something unique to you forward.
Explore the space
The SizeCon Space features a spacious virtual convention center that can be explored! Using WASD or your Arrow keys on your keyboard, you can move in all directions (alternately, you can double-click your mouse to move to a location). Your avatar can dance by pressing Z, throw confetti by pressing F, interact with objects by pressing X, and end interactions by pressing ESC. Our convention can have a lot of attendees in close spaces, so you can press G to enter ghost mode, allowing you to travel through other attendees. See a more complete list of commands here!
INTERACT
SizeCon is a built space for connecting with others at its core. As you explore our space and encounter others, you’ll be able to communicate with them and talk about things! Every user within 5 spaces of you in public spaces will be able to converse with you, connecting to their video and microphone to allow you and anyone else in range to speak.In our Grand Stage, Panel, and Social rooms, don’t worry about getting close - Presenters can be heard by the entire room!
There are also private spaces, which automatically connect other users, and allow them to chat directly to each other without concern of being overheard.

Having issues with the space? Here’s some suggestions!
Gather.Town works best in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers. Using these will get you the most compatibility.
While text chat is possible, you get the most out of SizeCon with camera and microphone. Make sure these are working ahead of time!
Are you stuck in a group? Hold down G while moving to pass through them. Stuck in an object? Respawn!
